For as long as I can remember, I have had a keen sense of thoughts and emotions. I saw, felt, and lived the depths of human experiences, and I saw this journey in others as well. My desire to learn more about the human experience, to help others, has led to a passion I am compelled to share. Because life is unpredictable, we are in a constant state of fluid change, full of highs and lows. As much as I wish it were, it is not always unicorns and rainbows (even if we want it to be!). There are cloudy days, stormy days as well, but there are also sunny days, and days where the rain gives way to rainbows.
My approach is rooted in creating a compassionate space where individuals can explore their inner selves, fostering self-awareness and illuminating the path towards light, happiness, and therapeutic change. With a solid foundation in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), which integrates mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. This approach is particularly effective in addressing emotional dysregulation, self-harm, interpersonal challenges, and improving overall well-being. One can definitely build a hefty toolbox of coping skills and lifestyle changes with DBT! Additionally, I love to integrate CBT, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, as another cornerstone of my therapeutic approach. CBT allows us to explore and reshape harmful or irrational thought patterns, gaining the power to change how we think, thus how we feel, and how we behave. With this, I work collaboratively with clients to explore their inner world, and reveal how our inner world ultimately affects our outer reality.
And where there is compassion, my “no judgment zone.” A space of dual and reciprocal nonjudgementalness for self and others. I understand that every individual’s experience is unique, and I approach each client with openness, respect and compassion. I work with clients to enhance extrinsic and intrinsic motivation for positive change, self-empowerment and self-efficacy. I believe in teamwork, and as the cliché goes, “teamwork makes the dream work” and encourage clients to apply this to therapy, relationships and life in general. Healing can sometimes be difficult and uncomfortable, but together, we can work together towards a path of healing. It is courageous and vital to understand that we are all human. We are not perfect and we make mistakes. By accepting this, we can then learn and grow from those experiences. We deserve to be not just compassionate with others, but with ourselves. We all deserve a life worth living, a life that we enjoy living.
Recognizing the intricate tapestry of human existence, I embrace what it means to be human. I provide a compassionate and client-centered approach to healing, working collaboratively with clients to develop practical (and even fun!) strategies to manage stress, mental health symptoms, to overcome barriers, and to ultimately create a life that they love to live. We will build on what already exists within, and create a solid foundation for lasting positive change. I work hard to guide my clients towards a more empowered and resilient version of themselves. I wish to create an open, compassionate and nonjudgmental space for individuals to explore their experiences, fostering a sense of safety, trust, and empowerment throughout the therapeutic journey of self-discovery, growth and change.
You know that saying, “Time flies when you’re having fun.” Well, I challenge that! Let’s live a life where we are mindful of both the good and not-so-good times, solution-focused instead of problem-focused, and where we can be content and satisfied, as a minimum! A life where even if there are storm clouds, we know how to make a few rainbows of our own until the sun comes out again.
